Rome is considered a relatively safe city. Walking around the city center both during day and night is completely safe. Anyway always protect your belongings and beware of pickpockets especially if you take the subway. Consider using a shoulder bag and preferably do not keep your wallet in your back pocket.
Temperatures tend to start rising from late February and usually the month of March is already pleasant and spring-like, warm temperatures during spring and autumn, hot and humid during summer (especially in July and August). Winter temperatures are moderately warm.
